'I Shot the Sheriff .......'

I have had the honour and pleasure to take images of the nominee High Sheriff of Bristol Dr Timothy L Chambers. Tim will be officially inaugurated on the 24th of March 2009, and will hold the post for a period of one year.
Tim is a renown Consultant Paediatric Physician and Renal Physician, working at both Frenchay, Southmead, and Bristols Children's Hospital (UBHT).





The High Sheriff is the Sovereign's representative in the County for all matters relating to the Judiciary and the maintenance of law and order. The Office of High Sheriff is at least 1,000 years old having its roots in Saxon times before the Norman Conquest. It is the oldest continuous secular Office under the Crown

The role of the High Sheriff include;
Attendance at Royal visits to the County.
The well being and protection of Her Majesty's High Court Judges when on Circuit in the County and attending them in Court during the legal terms.
Responsibility for the proclamation of the accession of a new Sovereign.
The maintenance of the loyalty of subjects to the Crown.
